RoofDatum is purpose-built for metal-roofing takeoff and estimating workflows.

RoofDatum is designed and built by an Australian metal roofer, around the way metal roofing is measured, ordered and installed in Australia. It is published by ROOFDATUM PTY LTD.

No. Measuring from the plan is the start of the workflow, not the end of it. Measured components—roof sheets, gutter, fascia, ridge, hip, valley, barge, apron and capping—are carried through into production pieces using your own allowances, maximum lengths and splitting rules.

Those pieces are laid out for review, and the reviewed takeoff becomes material quantities and supplier documents without rebuilding the job in another system. Production pieces and quantities should still be independently reviewed before quoting, ordering, fabrication or construction.

No. RoofDatum currently supports metric measurements only, including millimetres, metres and square metres.

RoofDatum is available for Windows x64 and Apple Silicon Mac. Intel Mac builds are not provided.

Windows on ARM devices, such as a Snapdragon Surface, can run the Windows x64 build using Windows’ built-in x64 emulation. This configuration is not currently officially supported: we do not test against it, performance may be reduced, and we cannot guarantee fixes for problems that occur only under emulation. A native Windows ARM build is not currently offered.

You set the scale from one known dimension, then check it against a separate known dimension. RoofDatum compares the measured length against the length you expect and reports the variance between them.

That confirms the two dimensions you selected are consistent with each other. It does not verify the accuracy or scale of the complete plan, and it cannot detect an error in part of the plan you did not check.

No. RoofDatum stores projects on your own machine and does not need a network connection to import plans, measure, review production pieces or produce documents.

In a root folder you choose, along with RoofDatum’s database and logs. Project file paths are stored relative to that folder, so a project folder is not tied to one location.

Yes. A project can be exported as a single portable project file that carries the plans and the resources the project depends on, so it opens and renders correctly elsewhere.

No. RoofDatum is a user-operated takeoff and estimating aid. Results depend on the accuracy of the plan, reference dimensions, geometry, pitch, product settings and information you enter. Measurements and quantities should be independently reviewed before quoting, ordering, fabrication or construction.
